A while ago I was relaying to a friend about our experience with interviewers (my husband and I have just finished the private school admission process for our son). On two of our interviews with admissions the interviewer asked us "how did you two meet?" Apparently living in the most diverse city in the world one does not see very often interracial couples (you get I am being sarcastic, right?)
Then, just this past weekend we were having brunch at a nearby cafe, my husband and son went over to the counter to order a cupcake. After placing the order they returned to our table. The woman who attended to them came over to our table to say that we have a very beautiful son and to say that "it is a very nice mix."
I have been hearing and seeing (yes, some do stare at my husband and me on the street) more now that we live in the city, or maybe I am just more attentive. But why the curiosity? Are we that special?
