Being a considerate person does not always make you a winner.
See, there are five washers and four dryers in our building; and being the considerate person that I am I use only two washers and dryers at a time, on occasion three washers. I do this because I do not want to be inconsiderate and "hog" all the machines. So, sometimes my laundry duty will be spread across all five days of the week.
Well, today I had two more loads of laundry I wanted to do before the weekend. I shuffled on down to the laundry room only to find that all the washers were being used - by one person, and she was still sorting! It would be at least forty minutes before a washing machine would be free to use.
I have made a promise to myself recently that I would not be negative and would use only positive words in my blog etc. and think only positive thoughts. And to encourage me further I just finished reading a post on happiness, the title of the post is : 8-psychological-terms-to-help-strengthen-your-friendships Below is a snippet from that post:
4. Fundamental attribution error. The fundamental attribution error is a psychological phenomenon in which we tend to view other people’s actions as reflections of their characters, and to overlook the power of the situation to influence their action. In other words, we over-emphasize the role that personality plays in shaping others’ behavior, and under-emphasize the role of outside forces. I assume that the guy in the drugstore is an inconsiderate jerk because he rushed ahead of me to get to the counter, when in fact, he’s very considerate, and he’s rushing to get home with the medicine for his sick girlfriend.
Next time I will use all five washing machines, so there! Because I am not being an inconsiderate person.
